1. How to install your Steady eSIM via QR code

When you purchase a Steady eSIM, you receive a unique QR code. Scanning this QR code downloads the carrier network profile directly onto your device's built-in eSIM chip.

Before You Install:
  • Stable Wi-Fi: You must have a stable internet connection (usually Wi-Fi) to scan and download the profile. The installation will fail without internet.
  • One-Time Scan: A QR code can only be scanned and installed once. Do not delete the eSIM profile once added, even if it says "not activated" or has no signal. Deleting it makes the QR code permanently unusable.

Installation on Apple iOS (iPhones):

  1. Open your email receipt on another device (or print it out) to view the QR code.
  2. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data).
  3. Tap Add eSIM (or Set Up Cellular / Add Data Plan).
  4. Choose Use QR Code.
  5. Scan the QR code using your iPhone's camera.
  6. Follow the prompts to label the new line. We recommend naming it Steady eSIM or Travel Data.

Installation on Android (Samsung Galaxy):

  1. Display the QR code on another device or print it.
  2. On your Samsung device, go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager.
  3. Tap Add eSIM.
  4. Select Scan QR code from service provider.
  5. Scan the QR code.
  6. Tap Add or Confirm to download the eSIM profile.

Installation on Android (Google Pixel):

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs.
  2. Tap + Add (or Add SIM).
  3. Select Download a SIM instead? and tap Next.
  4. Scan your QR code and follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.

2. How to activate your data plan after installation

To connect to the local high-speed network at your travel destination, you must activate the eSIM profile on your device and enable roaming. The validity of your plan (e.g., 30 days) begins as soon as the eSIM establishes its first connection to a local partner network.

Step-by-Step Activation (Upon Arrival):

When you land at your destination (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, or Thailand), follow these steps:

  1. Open your phone's Settings.
  2. Navigate to eSIM settings (Cellular on iOS, SIM manager on Samsung, or SIMs on Pixel).
  3. Select your Steady eSIM profile and toggle Turn On This Line (or Enable SIM) to ON.
  4. Set your Steady eSIM as the preferred line for Mobile Data.
  5. Locate the Data Roaming toggle under your eSIM profile settings and switch it ON.
Crucial Step - Data Roaming: Because Steady eSIMs use global partner agreements to deliver high-speed regional rates, your phone registers them as roaming lines. You must enable Data Roaming for the eSIM profile in your settings, or you will have no internet connection. (Ensure roaming is turned OFF on your home SIM to avoid charges from your home carrier!)

Troubleshooting Connection Delay:

  • Wait 2-5 Minutes: It can take a few minutes for a newly activated eSIM to register on the local mobile network for the first time.
  • Toggle Airplane Mode: Switch Airplane Mode ON for 10 seconds, then toggle it OFF. This forces your phone to re-scan for local carriers.
  • Restart Your Phone: If it still does not connect, turn your phone off and back on.

3. How to switch between your physical SIM and Steady eSIM

Modern smartphones support Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS), allowing you to keep both your home SIM card (physical or eSIM) and your travel eSIM active at the same time. You can switch between them for data services whenever you want.

How to Switch Data Lines on Apple iOS:

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular.
  2. Tap Cellular Data.
  3. Select the line you want to use for mobile data (choose your Steady eSIM when traveling, and switch back to your Primary home SIM when returning).
  4. Toggle Allow Cellular Data Switching to OFF. This prevents your phone from automatically switching back to your home SIM when the eSIM signal is weak, protecting you from unexpected roaming fees.

How to Switch Data Lines on Android (Samsung):

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager.
  2. Scroll down to the Preferred SIMs section.
  3. Tap Mobile data and select your travel eSIM (or your home SIM when returning).

When You Return Home:

Once your trip is over and you return home, go back to your eSIM settings, switch your default mobile data back to your primary home SIM card, and toggle the Steady eSIM profile to OFF. You can safely keep the profile on your device or delete it if you do not plan to top it up again.

4. How to set your Steady eSIM as the default data line

Setting up your default lines correctly is essential to get high-speed data while ensuring you do not run up huge roaming bills on your home carrier. Follow this guide to lock in the correct configuration.

Recommended Apple iOS Settings:

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular.
  2. Tap Default Voice Line: Set this to your Primary (home SIM) line. This keeps your home phone number active to receive incoming text messages (like bank OTPs) and calls.
  3. Tap Cellular Data: Set this to your Steady eSIM (travel data) profile.
  4. Tap on your Primary home SIM line under SIMs: Ensure Data Roaming is turned OFF.
  5. Tap on your Steady eSIM line under SIMs: Ensure Data Roaming is turned ON.

Recommended Android Settings:

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager.
  2. Under Preferred SIMs, configure the following:
    • Calls: Select your Primary home SIM.
    • Messages: Select your Primary home SIM.
    • Mobile data: Select your Steady eSIM profile.
  3. Go back to Connections, tap Mobile networks, and ensure data roaming is toggled ON (roaming will only apply to the eSIM since your home SIM calls/texts are managed separately).
Important Safety Tip: Receiving SMS text messages abroad is generally free with most home carriers. However, answering phone calls or sending SMS replies will trigger roaming fees on your home SIM. We recommend using WhatsApp, FaceTime, or Telegram over your eSIM data connection to make calls and send messages while traveling!
